Is it possible for a professional athlete who has suffered serious cartilage damage to go back to playing at the same level as before the injury? Can someone with knee arthrosis go back to playing tennis?
Our job is to provide answers to these questions. Hence the purpose of the eighteenth edition of our congress is to address this topic, focusing our attention on the patient and not on the physician. Our task is knowing diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative solutions which will help the patient achieve his personal goals. Our task is also to put forward the risks and benefits of pharmacological, biotechnical, and motor science innovations while keeping foremost in our minds that the patient is the active protagonist of his recovery. It is giving advice on the most appropriate course of treatment and accompanying the patient during the recovery so as to reach the best functional recovery possible. Results being the athlete going back to competitive sport and the ordinary person going back to the activities of daily life. Two different needs with a common denominator which will be addressed separately during the two days of the congress through a series of speeches dealing specifically with courses of treatment for the different pathologies presented.
